Troy Murphy is a skier who grew up on the slopes of Sunday River. That’s right: perhaps you were making turns with a future Olympian and didn’t even know it! He was born on June 13, 1992 in Bethel, ME and graduated from Gould Academy in 2010.

Murphy made his World Cup debut in 2012, and in 2014 was the FIS Rookie of the year in moguls. He also did very well in 2015 finishing in the top 10 in four contests. Murphy had a difficult 2016 season due to injuries, but he came back in 2017 finishing in the top 10 six times.
Murphy was ranked 12th in the world when he was selected for the 2018 US Men's Mogul team. He narrowly missed being on the team in 2014, so when he placed fourth in qualifiers for the Olympic team I can only imagine his elation!

Unfortunately, he was not destined for a podium position. After scoring 80.95 in his first qualifier, he dropped to a 72.72 which was not enough to continue to the third round.
Troy Murphy has no intention of slowing down. He will jump right back into the World Cup Circuit with an event in Japan on March 3rd and events in France and Switzerland soon after. He will return to New England for the US moguls nationals at Waterville Valley Resort in New Hampshire on March 20-24. (We will certainly keep you posted on this event.)
We’re proud of you, Troy Murphy! Continue skiing as a top notch representative of the USA and New England!
